Diran Peak – Climbing, Hiking & Mountaineering with Siachen Tours
Diran is a mountain in the Karakoram range in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. This 7,266 metres (23,839 ft) pyramid shaped mountain lies to the east of Rakaposhi (7,788m).
It is a tremendous, fascinating and most beautiful peak. Diran stands prominently offering a panoramic view to Hunza valley adding to its rugged beauty. The entire ascent is on snow slops with bare rock only peeping here and there.
The South face is dominating the Bagrot valley also visible from Karakoram Highway. This face is little more difficult yet safer for snow and ice avalanches. The higher slope is smooth but wind-blown.
Diran was first climbed in 1968 by three Austrians: Rainer Goeschl, Rudolph Pischinger and Hanns Schell. Earlier attempts by a German expedition in 1959 and an Australian expedition in 1964 were unsuccessful.
Diran is situated between Rakaposhi & Haramosh Massif Diran Peak From Minapin glacier of Karakoram Range.
